Home-made BBQ sauce

November 10, 2019 By Alan

This bbq sauce is so much nicer than the ones you find at the supermarket. The best part is that it’s extremely easy to make! You’ll have to make it in order to believe me :).

The base for bbq sauce is ketchup so use a nice one you like. The other basic ingredient is vinegar. I love to use apple cider vinegar but it could also be white wine vinegar (although I still strongly recommend apple vinegar). Vinegar, just like alcohol, turns to sugar as it cooks, but it keeps a bit of that tanginess that’s lovely to feel in a bbq sauce.

Have in mind that it’s really important to cook the mix out until it thickens and gets this deeper colour. That’s when it’s ready. If you don’t cook it until this point it will be too acidic! Now, if you miss this spot you can always return it to cook it some more, so don’t worry.
