Enhance your cheese and wine night!

September 18, 2015 By Alan

This is one of my boyfriend’s and mine favourite activities! Replacing your evening dinner with cheese & wine is perfect for me, it means less work and more wine! Sometimes you just need a night like that. However, this does not mean that you should not make an effort to ensure that everything on the table is perfect ;).

First the bread. If you just used chopped up baguette or the bread you like, you’re bringing he whole attention to the cheese or jams or whatever you put on the table. Why not make it also about the bread? So before you start plating your cheeses, give a minute to it.

First, cut it up in slices. You can use baguette, in this case I used ciabatta and was glorious as well!

Now these need some colour, so mix olive oil, salt, pepper and oregano and paint it over each piece with a pastry brush or sprinkle with a spoon.

Put the bread in the oven until they are tan and happy

OK next, I bought some mini mozzarella balls. You could just put them at the table ooooor give them a proper dressing up! So I chopped up basil really really small, mixed it with salt, pepper and olive oil and mix it all up.

Yum, right? I did the same for the olives minus the basil and then they were joined by hummus (I bought it this time, but I’ll give you a recipe soon enough) drizzled with olive oil and some pear chutney to go with the cheese.

Then of course I had some Serrano jam joined by a soft cheese and some wine :). Serve pretty and enjoooy!!
