Difficulty 1/5
I don’t know about your house, but somehow we always buy a bigger turkey than we need for christmas! So here’s what I do with it: a perfect grilled cheese! Melty, juicy, and full of flavour. I’ll teach you how to get the perfect result 😉
Portions: 1 sandwich
Ingredients:
– 4 slices of melting cheese (I used gouda, it can also be edam, mozzarella, cheddar)
– Christmas turkey, cut very small
– Turkey gravy
– 2 slices of bread of your choice
– 3 tsp butter
Procedure:
1. Butter is ESSENTIAL for a golden grilled cheese, and my ultimate trick is that we first toast the inside of the sandwich. This way, when we put the cheese, the bread doesn’t go soggy but rather stays crunchy and helps the cheese melt. We put 2 tsp of butter first and let it melt on med-low heat.2. Put the slices of bread and let it get nice and golden. Then we flip them tu put the cheese and turkey on them.3. So now what we just toasted is the inside of the sandwich.. We put 2 slices f cheese, then the turkey mixed with the gravy and finish with another 2 slices of cheese. This way the bread doesn’t get soggy with the sauce. If you like, you can even put a bit of mustard in and give it an extra bit of flavour.4. We put the lid of the sandwich on and add another tsp of butter. When it melts, move the sandwich around the pan so it soaks it up and turns nice and golden. Repeat the same with the other tsp of butter on the other side.5. Now for the cheese to melt all the way to the inside, we need a bit of patience. Lower the heat to minimum and put a lid on.
It’s a wrap!!! Ready to be enjoyed. The result is too good; just look at that CHEESE!!!!!!! The perfect pair to your turkey; yum!
